Many computers take a lot of time to boot (or start ).This is
due to many reasons.

Some slight changes can do wonders for your system:

1. Press start->run then type msconfig and press enter.

Go to the startup tab. Here you will see a list of startup items. These
are all the programs that automatically start when you boot your PC.
It is these that slow down the boot up process.
So uncheck all the unwanted items like ms-office,
messengers other utilities that u may not need at startup). Don't
uncheck your antivirus software.


Restart your Pc to and see for yourself, your pc will now boot faster....


2. A great new feature in Microsoft Windows XP is the ability to do a
boot defragment. This places all boot files next to each other on the
disk to allow for faster booting. By default this option is enabled, but
on some systems it is not, so below is the information on how to turn it
on:

Go to Start Menu and Click Run
Type in regedit then click ok
Find
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOpt
imizeFunction"
Select "Enable" from the list on the right
Right on it and select "Modify"
Change the value to Y .
Reboot your Pc and see the change yourself.

How to Restore a Deactivated / Missing CD/DVD Drive

If your CD/DVD drive has disappeared from Windows Explorer and the system folder ‘My Computer’. A glance in the device manager shows that obviously there is some serious problem as the entries are marked with a yellow exclamation mark. This is also confirmed by opening ‘Properties’ in the context menu of the device as it reports “Error code 19” and an error in the registry.

This happens when you accidently deactivate your CD/DVD drive. It can be solved with one change to the registry.

The procedure is as follows..

Open the registry editor with ‘Start > Run’, ‘regedit’ and click ‘OK’

Go to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

In the right side of the window, delete both values ‘UpperFilters’ and ‘LowerFilters’.

To do that, select the successive entries, press [Del], and confirm the security query that will pop up.

After restarting your system, the drive will be available again.

How to change logon background/screen in windows 7

If you think the usual logon screen is quit bore to see. You have a option to change it to your favour. Look at the following steps to do….

1.First launch regedit from run command then go toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows

\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background

2.Change the vaulue of  OEMBackground to 1,which indicate to enale logon background customization  in windows 7 

Tip:If you can not find this entry in your registry,please try to create one ( just go to the folder "Background" ,right click on free space,creatte new,name it OEMBackground and enter the value to 1)

  3.Go to %windir%\system32\oobe\ ,create folder info then create another folderbackgrounds under info,then copy your own background picture here and rename it tobackgrounddefault

Note:The size of this picture must be less than 256k ,or it will not work.

4.Done,you can see your new logon background after logoff.

How to remove arrow in shortcut’s on windows

some guys are not want to show arrows in shortcuts. Its pretty easy to change ions as normal looking.

1.Open your registry by typing command regedit in Run window

2.Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile ,remove the IsShortcut string entry because this entry is used to control if show arrows on shortcuts of common Apps and Data files

3.Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile,also remove the IsShortcut entry because this entry is used to control if show arrows  on shortcuts of MS-DOS programs

4.Log off and login ,you will find the arrow is removed

PROTECTING USER PRIVACY AT LOGON PROMPTS

Normally, at the time of logging into a Windows system, it is possible to find out the information on the last user since his/her details are stored in cache memory. It is always a good security and privacy practice to prevent this information from being displayed by executing the following registry trick.

1. Open the regedit.exe file using Run
2. Search for, or create, the following registry key:
For Windows 2000 or XP or latest version
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System


For Windows 95,98, or Windows ME:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Network\Logon
For Windows NT:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
3. Create a new DWORD value or double click on the DWORD value (within the above registry key) called DontDisplayLastUserName and set its value to 1 to prevent the last username from displaying , and to 0 to implement the default settings.
4. Exit Windows registry and restart the Windows session for the changes to be applied.

If you want to reset to default just replace the value to “0” again.

Fix the Login speed problem

Is your login speed very slow? then this may work to speed up your login speed.

Go to 

• star->run
• Type as regedit and hit enter
• Navigate to this folder   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\Guardian  .
• Right click over "Guardian" in the left pane.
• Left click on "Permissions"
• Left click "SYSTEM" once to highlight it.
• Check "deny" in all boxes that you can at the bottom (Probably only 2)
• Left click Apply
• Left Click OK

• Say "OK" to any warnings about permissions
• **Reboot** the system

Now your login speed will be good.

How to Rename the Recycle bin in windows?

It is very simple trick.just follow three Step :

• write "regedit" in run command
• Navigate to this Path by clicking the plus symbol: 
• go  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID/{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
• in the right panel you will see "recyle bin".change it as your wish.

Change the Default Location for Installing Programs

Basically windows uses the C:\Program Files directory as the default directory to install new programme. However, we can change the default installation drive and/or directory by
using a Registry hack.To do this

• Run the Registry Editor(regedit in run command)
• Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion 
• Look for the value named ProgramFilesDir 
• By default, the value will be C:\Program Files
• Edit the value to any valid drive or folder

Windows will use that new location as the default installation directory for new programs.

Hacking the Names of the Registered User and Company

When we install Windows or when it comes factory-fresh on a PC, a username and
company name are entered as the owner of the system. And that’s the way it stays, like it or not.
But a Registry hack will let you change both.To change:

• Run the Registry Editor(regedit in run command)
• Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion 
• Look for the values RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization 
• Edit their value data to whatever username and company name you want

Now Your Pc Get a New Username And a New Companny Name.

Hacking Shutdown

you can disable shutdown option of your friends or any computure.If you do this they can't shut down their pc with normal process.To disable shutdown option:

• open registry editor by writing regedit in run commandl
• Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer. (In Vista,you may need to create the Explorer key.)
• Create a new DWORD value named NoClose with a data
  value of 1
• Exit the Registry, and reboot for the change to take effect

Now you won’t be able to shut downWindows in the normal manner. You’ll have to run Task Manager by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del and then using the Task Manager’s ShutDown menu to close Windows.
If you want to reenable normal shutdowns, delete the NoClose value.

NOTE:Under Vista, this setting may not take effect until you shut down and start Windows back up.
